Breathlessness, chest discomfort, palpitations and other symptoms can sometimes require evaluation beyond the lungs. An ECG may be recommended as part of a broader clinical assessment when appropriate.

- Simple, non-invasive recording of the heart’s electrical activity
- Assessment when symptoms or examination suggest it may be useful
- Interpretation in the context of the patient’s history and examination
- Further cardiac evaluation or referral when clinically required
